Medgidia is a municipality in Constanta County, Dobrogea, Romania, made up of the localities of Medgidia
Remus Opreanu and the Dacian Valley. It is located in the center of the Southern Dobrogea Plateau (Medgidia Plateau).
Prior to 1850, the town was a well-known cereal fair in Ottoman Dobrudja. During this time, the village enjoyed the attention of sultan Abdul Medgid, from whom the city was named, and which endowed it with several edifices such as the large mosque and the Turkish bath. It was under Romanian control in 1878 following the Congress of Berlin.
