Sarmisegetuza is one of Romania's great attractions, being an ancient Dacian settlement whose walls have resisted to this day in spite of the wars that have taken place against the Romans.
Monumental is in continuous discovery, so archaeological searches continue today by students from Cluj's faculties under the supervision of some specialists.
Fortress, found in Hunedoara County, at 1200 m height, is a quadrilateral made of massive stone blocks. Her wall was 3 m thick and 4-5 m tall when the construction was finished
Inside it was divided into two areas: the sacred area and the area where the cathedrals lived. The sacred area includes several sanctuaries, of which the most important is the Circular Calendar. In the residential area there were houses, workshops and shops, barns, water tanks.
Now, however, only the ruins of the old city can be seen. However, it presents a view that is a delight with a history of emeritus seen through those ruins.
